Now that both the National Weather Service Topeka and Wichita offices have announced the dates and locations for upcoming spotter training sessions, information is also coming out about the annual Severe Weather Awareness Week.
The special focus on severe weather safety will be March 4-8 across Kansas. As has been the case for years, the Weather Service will have a daily information point through the week:
*March 4: General preparedness
*March 5: Flood safety
*March 6: Tornado safety, including the statewide tornado drill at 11 am. Lyon County does not participate with its weekly drills at noon Mondays
*March 7: Hail and wind safety
*March 8: Lightning safety

For the area spotter sessions, the dates and locations are as follows:
*March 4: Eureka High School auditorium, 6:30 pm
*March 20: Coffey County 4-H Building, Burlington, 7 pm
*March 25: Chase County Community Center, 6:30 pm
*March 27: Emporia State Memorial Union Preston Family Room, Emporia, 7 pm
