Two state consideration times were earned Wednesday by the Emporia High boys swim team in the Topeka West Invitational.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Broden Podrebarac, Logan Woydziak, Shane Anderson, and Tyler Luthi finished fourth with a consideration time of 1:56.07, knocking off nearly four seconds off their seed time. The other state consideration came from Woydziak in the 100-yard freestyle. Woydziak cut off two seconds off his seed time to finish fifth in the event with a time of 54.58. Other top finishes for Emporia High included Ian Navarro finishing fifth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:16.24. Navarro finished third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:20.45. Anderson finished fourth in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:33.19. Anderson also took third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.49. Woydziak finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.07. Luthi finished fifth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:08.29. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Anderson, Navarro, Luthi, and Woydziak finished fifth with a time of 1:42.80.
As a team, Emporia High finished third with a score of 299 finishing behind Wichita Collegiate and Piper. Emporia High will return to the pool on Saturday at Maize. Spartan diver Alex Allemang will compete in two meets over the next two days. Allemang will compete at Campus on Thursday and then at Maize on Friday.
