A Chase County building has been approved for both the Kansas Register of Historic Places and National Register of Historic Places.
The Kansas Historical Society chose the Matfield Green High School Gymnasium as one of 10 buildings selected with this round of options, as well as the downtown Kansas City, Kansas, district.
The gym was built in 1929 to help serve students at Matfield Green High. The school building was constructed in 1917 and demolished in 1970. The gym, meanwhile, has a private owner and remains standing.
The Historical Society’s next meeting is June 1.
