Court processes are underway against two people in Greenwood County after an alleged chase late last month.
Greenwood County Sheriff Heath Samuels says the incident began unfolding shortly before 11:30 pm Jan. 30 as a deputy began a traffic stop on US Highway 400, observing methamphetamine in plain sight. The deputy tried to get the driver, Tyler Goodwin out of the vehicle, but Goodwin allegedly fled. The ensuing chase reached speeds of around 120 mph before Goodwin allegedly went on county roads, even driving through pastures.
The deputy in pursuit also hit an object while driving through one of the pastures, disabling his vehicle.
Goodwin allegedly drove northbound to M50 and 100th, where deputies resumed the chase through Eureka — at speeds reaching 110 mph — and continuing out of Eureka at speeds above 100 mph at times before the chase finally stopped in Woodson County. Goodwin and a passenger, Jordan Denny, were then taken into custody without incident.
Goodwin now faces 23 total counts, including aggravated assault on law enforcement, interference with law enforcement, methamphetamine distribution, conspiracy to distribute meth, flee and elude, criminal damage, criminal trespass, criminal possession of a firearm by a felon and several traffic infractions. Denny faces nine counts, including interference, meth distribution, conspiracy to distribute meth, trafficking contraband in a correctional facility, forgery and identity theft.
Upcoming court hearing dates are pending against both defendants.
