By May, Lyon County government may well have a brand-new website for county residents.
On KVOE’s Morning Show recently, Lyon County Public Relations Manager Vici Smith said work is moving towards the actual design stage. She says the new layout will be completely different from the current site at lyoncounty.org, but the end result will be much better for everybody.
The new website will also be more secure — a point of emphasis after the cyberattack that flattened the state court system last fall — and will also be more handicapped-accessible.
Smith says a lot of the preliminary work has been focused on layout so people at desktops, tablets or cell phones can get their information in a user-friendly fashion.
County officials spent much of last year periodically discussing the need, ultimately partnering with CivicPlus — the same company that developed the city of Emporia website — for $32,000.
