Saturday will be a big night in Olpe. However, the event is already SOLD OUT.
The first-ever Green Machine Gala is taking place at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Spokesperson Tyler Schmidt says all proceeds go to the expansive Fitness Park project in Olpe.
Activities start at 5:30 pm with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction. A steak dinner follows at 6:30 pm, with a live auction at 7:30 pm and a dance beginning at 8:30 pm. Suggested donation is $100 per person.
The fitness park has already secured over $115,000 in tax credits from the Kansas Department of Commerce for Phase 1, including a new football stadium, including field, eight-lane track, bleachers, press box and fencing; as well as the start of a fitness trail. USD 252 Southern Lyon County has also pledged $600,000.
Other aspects of the project have included a splash pad, which was already the focus of separate fundraising efforts before the larger project was announced, as well as a new basketball court, new softball field, new layout for the baseball field and a field house including a community center, community weight room and early childcare center.
The Phase 1 fundraising goal is $1.9 million. The total project cost is estimated at around $9 million.
