The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has announced a stream advisory for part of central Greenwood County.
This involves Onion Creek east of U Road and north of Willow Creek, an area a few miles north of Hamilton.
KDHE says this is due to water contamination from a crude oil tank leak, meaning crude oil contaminants my be present in the creek. Residents are told not to enter the stream and not to allow children or pets to get into the stream.
KDHE says it will rescind the advisory after secondary contact, in this case wading, has been determined as safe.
