Part of a central Emporia neighborhood had to be evacuated for precautionary measures after a gas line puncture incident Saturday afternoon.
The incident happened behind 101 Congress at around 3:15 pm. Emporia Fire Capt. Willie Ward says a currently-unspecified plumbing company was doing a project when it accidentally hit a line.
Kansas Gas arrived shortly afterward to pinch the line. Three nearby homes were evacuated. No injuries or other damage was reported.
