The Kansas City Chiefs overcame a 10-0 first-half deficit to win Super Bowl LVIII 25-22 in overtime over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night. San Francisco started the game in front 10-0 with 10 second-quarter points before a Harrison Butker field goal made it 10-3 at halftime. Harrison Butker drilled the longest field goal in Super Bowl history in the third, a 57-yarder, before a Marquez Valdez Scantling 16-yard reception put the Chiefs up 13-10 after three. The Niners went up early in the fourth but had their extra point blocked to lead 16-13. A Harrison Butker field goal tied the game before the teams traded field goals in the final two minutes to end regulation tied at 19. The 49ers won the toss and elected to take the ball in overtime and drove for a 27-yard field goal to lead 22-19. Under the new postseason overtime rules, used for the first time in history in this game, the Chiefs were guaranteed a possession and drove for a 3-yard touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes to Mecole Hardman Junior to win. Mahomes talked after the game about the adversity the Chiefs overcame this season.

The Chiefs became the first team to win consecutive Lombardi trophies since the 2003-04 Patriots. Mahomes was the Super Bowl MVP with 333 yards passing, two touchdowns and one interception. Travis Kelce caught nine balls for 93 yards while Mahomes led the Chiefs in rushing with nine carries for 66 yards. The Chiefs end the season 15-6 and win their fourth Super Bowl title, tied for fifth most all time.
