It was a clean sweep on the road for the Chase County basketball teams in Madison Tuesday night.
Chase County Lady Bulldogs overcame a slow offensive start to defeat Madison 50-33. Madison led 7-4 after the first quarter before Chase County outpaced it in the next frame to take a 15-10 halftime lead. Madison could not break out of the offensive funk throughout the rest of the game, shooting 10-38 from the field. The struggles were credited to Chase County’s 2-3 zone. Chase County was led by 21 points by Madelyn Wilson, while Madison’s leading scorer was Jalynn Weakley with 14. Both teams sit at 13-5 on the season.
In the boys game, Chase County powered past Madison 46-25 behind a physical man-to-man defense. Madison led 9-7 early in the game before Chase County went on a 10-0 run to begin the second quarter, never looking back in the victory. Chase County was led in scoring by Tag Groh with 14, while Madison was led by seven points a piece by Colton Isch and Lane Darbro. Madison falls 9-9, while Chase County is 12-6.
