Lyon County Commissioners have approved an agreement for engineering services to repair a collapsed county bridge.
The bridge on Road 170 collapsed either late in the evening of February 3 or the early morning hours of February 4. The agreement approved Thursday will see BG Consultants handle the engineering design for the bridge repairs for just over $37,700.
A timeline for the replacement project is not readily available, however, Lyon County Engineer Chip Woods has stated the work will take place “in-house” through the Lyon County Highway Department. The reason for the “in-house” approach is due in part to the bridge not being eligible for grant funding.
In other business Thursday, commissioners also approved a quote of more than $5,300 from Terracon for geological services related to the bridge repair project. A quote from Subsurface, Inc. for an estimated $124,740 for line culverts on Americus Road, a quote from Railroad Yard Inc. for culvert materials totaling more than $34,000 and a quote from Frank Black Pipe and Supply for approximately 1,300 feet of used 24″ casing totaling more than $44,000 all gained unanimous approval as well.
Commissioners also approved the following items Thursday:
*A proposal totaling more $25,300 from Johnson Controls to replace eductor lines and valves and vibration isolators for a chiller unit to be presented by County Facilities Director Robbie Weiss.
*An invoice from ES&S for the annual service contract for election equipment and software totaling more than $54,700.
*The annual federal forfeiture report from Lyon County Sheriff Jeff Cope.
Human Resource Director Alicia Rumold and Public Relations Director Vici Smith also presented the annual KAC awards. The Lyon County Commission is scheduled to reconvene for its regular action meeting next Thursday at 9 am inside of the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
