Two area schools will compete together in softball this coming spring.
The USD 251 North Lyon County Board of Education and USD 454 Burlingame Board of Education voted and agreed Wednesday night for Northern Heights and Burlingame to co-op in softball. USD 251 Superintendent Bob Blair said softball numbers for both schools are down, leading to the discussion of co-oping for this season. Blair said both schools’ athletic directors are still working out the details, which include uniforms and scheduling games.
Northern Heights and Burlingame will be the third co-op in the KVOE listening area that competes in softball. Lebo and Waverly compete as the Lebo-Waverly Wolfdogs while Olpe and Hartford compete as Southern Lyon County.
Schools that offer softball can begin practicing on February 26.
