The Emporia State softball team swept Week 3 of the MIAA Softball weekly awards. Alexis Dial is the MIAA Hitter of the Week while Jayda VanAckeren was named the MIAA Pitcher of the Week. Dial was honored after hitting .727 through the first three games of the ESU Classic over the weekend. Dial currently has a five-game hitting streak with two or more hits in her first four games at the classic. She leads the Lady Hornets hitting .533 with an on base percentage of .547 while slugging .889 with a team-high eight doubles, one triple, and two home runs. VanAckeren had a complete game shutout against Wayne State College Sunday in the ESU Classic to pickup her third career shutout. She is 3-2 on the season with a 2.75 ERA and has allowed just eight runs in 20.1 innings this season and opponents are hitting just .256 against her. E-State returns to action beginning Friday at the Washburn Tournament.
