Two Osage County high school students and one from Coffey County now have their higher education funding finalized after announcements this week.
Lyndon High senior Brooklynne Morrison received a Jones Premier Education Scholarship from Emporia State University. Marais des Cygnes senior Kelsey Rice and Southern Coffey County senior Emily Rolf got Jones Premier Nursing Scholarships as part of separate activities Thursday. They join Emporia High senior Addison Gutierrez and Vianet Umana, who also got Jones Premier Scholarships on Thursday.
The Jones Foundation’s brand-new scholarship offers a full ride to Emporia State, including tuition, fees, room and board, books and other expenses after all other scholarships and grants are factored into the equation for these students. Premier Scholarship winners are also automatically entered into Emporia State’s Honors College.
Students must be residents of Lyon, Coffey or Osage counties to be eligible. They also submit essays that ask why they have chosen to enter the education or nursing profession and how the Jones Foundation scholarship funds for their specific education plans will help to improve lives in their respective communities.
