Participants in Emporia State University’s Athletic Bands programs have more scholarship funds available to them, thanks to funding from the recently-completed Together, Forward campaign and other donors.
ESU Director of Athletic Bands Bill Woodworth says this makes life a lot easier for students.
Woodworth also says this is an opportunity unlike any other across Kansas.

Woodworth, a guest on KVOE’s ESU Buzz recently, says this will benefit music majors and non-music majors alike. He also says non-majors make up the vast majority of Athletic Bands students.
This impacts students in the Marching Hornets, Color Guard, Stingers dance team, Hornet Cheer, Elegante Independent Winterguard and Volleyband.
This also comes as ESU recently announced the first five recipients of its Jones Premier Scholarships, which offer free-ride college education for high school seniors in Lyon, Coffey and Osage counties pursuing education or nursing as careers.
