Court dates are now pending, but formal charges have been filed against a father and son accused of transporting marijuana, grow operation materials and firearms through Chase County recently.
Seth Benjamin Kindt, age 47 of Inglis, Florida, has been charged with single counts of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of paraphernalia with intent to manufacture, criminal use of weapons by a person addicted to a controlled substance and speeding.
Kindt’s father, 75-year-old Duff Kindt of Stout, Ohio, is charged with single counts of possessing marijuana with intent to distribute and possessing paraphernalia with intent to manufacture.
Documents posted online to the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal indicate the Kindts had 10.5 pounds of marijuana, as well as unspecified items used to “manufacture, cultivate, plant, propagate, harvest, test, analyze or distribute” the drug. Seth Kindt also allegedly had two handguns in his possession when the two were arrested Thursday near Strong City.
Court documents indicate Seth Kindt, the driver, was traveling at 79 mph in a 65 mph zone when deputies stopped his vehicle, thus leading to the alleged discovery of the marijuana, paraphernalia and guns.
