The Emporia State track and field teams wrapped up their indoor season at the MIAA Championships on Sunday. The Hornets swept the shot put with Travis Morrison winning his first MIAA title in the event with a throw of 61 feet-1.5 inches. He’s the third Hornet to ever break the 60 foot mark in the indoor event. Mele Taula also won the event with a throw of 48 feet-8 inches. It was the fourth best throw in the history of the program. Ty Anderson ran a provisional qualifying time to finish fourth in the 60 meter dash. ESU had five more provisional qualifiers Saturday led by Aren Trost who finished as the runner-up in the men’s heptathlon. The Hornets will learn their national postseason fate on Tuesday. Ty Anderson jumped a provisional qualifying mark in the long jump. The field for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships will be announced at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday.
