Emporia State senior guard Katie Horyna is the MIAA’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week heading into the final week of the regular season. Horyna helped the Lady Hornets go 2-0 last week with victories over Central Missouri and Lincoln. Horyna scored 20 points while shooting 6-for-9 from the field against the Jennies and hit four free throws in the last 90 seconds of the game. She backed it up with 10 points, four rebounds, and three assists ESU’s 73-59 Senior Day win over Lincoln. Horyna is the first Lady Hornet to be named Player of the Week this season and the first overall since Tre’zure Jobe was named Player of the Week in Week 13 of last year’s MIAA season. The Lady Hornets return to action Wednesday at Pittsburg State. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
