The Emporia State track and field team will send two athletes to the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships. Travis Morrison and Mele Taula will head to Pittsburg, Kan. March 9 to throw the shot put for the Black & Gold. Morrison won the MIAA Indoor Championship with an indoor personal best of 61 feet-1.5 inches and has the third best throw of the season heading into the national meet. Morrison is just the third Hornet to throw for over 60 feet in program history. Taula won the conference championship with a throw of 48 feet-8 inches and is ranked 11th heading into the National Championships. Taula’s throw is the fourth furthest in program history. Morrison is making his second trip to the national championships while Taula will make her debut at the event next month.
