A plea agreement has been reached in a local arson case with sentencing set for late next month.
During a combination detention review and preliminary hearing Tuesday afternoon, 17-year-old Justin Hines entered a plea of no-contest to two counts of arson both of which he was found guilty of by Judge Doug Jones. Hines is set for sentencing at 2 pm March 26.
Hines will appear for another detention review hearing prior to sentencing at 2 pm next Tuesday. Hines was charged earlier this month after a pair of fires on Jan. 17 and 22 both at Moore’s Greenhouse outside of Guion’s Showcase.
Both fires damaged Moore’s with the second also causing exterior damage to the northwest corner of the Guion’s Building. No injuries were reported with either incident.
