The Peyton Street waterline improvement project enters its next phase Thursday.
Construction moves to the intersection of South Avenue and Carter Street, meaning Carter will be closed at the intersection for up to two weeks.
The project has been installing new water pipe along East 12th to Peyton, as well as Peyton from 12th to Sixth and South Avenue from Peyton to Carter. Besides replacing old pipe, this project is designed to solidify water service for southeast Emporia, which currently has the city’s heaviest water use. Work should be done by spring.
