It’ll be an all Lyon County League boys sub-state championship game between Olpe and Madison on Saturday at Flinthills.
Olpe started off their contest on the right foot; scoring the first nine points before cruising to a 65-20 victory over Oswego.
The top seeded Eagles had not played in 10 days, but Olpe’s head coach Chris Schmidt was pleased with how his team found their rhythm from the get go.
Olpe was led in scoring by 19 points by Ethan Redeker.
On the other half of the bracket, Madison survived and advanced with a 43-37 win against Colony-Crest. The first quarter saw a back and forth contest, with Madison leading 9-7 at the conclusion of the frame. Madison would build their lead to 12 heading into half, much in part by 17 points by Colton Isch. Colony-Crest switched to a box and one against Isch, who also got in foul trouble in the third quarter. With Isch on the bench, Colony-Crest began chipping away at Madison’s advantage. The lead would get diminished to 3 in the closing moments of the contest but Madison would hit 6/10 at the line to ice the game. Head Coach Alex McNeal was relieved his team came out on top.
Isch led all scorers with 21.
Olpe and Madison will face off Saturday at 5pm in the Sub-state Championship final.
