Six months away from the annual Halfway to Everywhere Music and Arts Festival, residents are encouraged to gather at the Emporia Granada Theatre for the Halfway to Halfway concert Saturday night.
That 1 Guy, a featured performer at the first Halfway to Everywhere event, is coming for what H2E Inc founder Hank Osterhout calls a “truly unique psychedelic mind-bending audio-visual show.”
The concert Saturday also highlights some significant changes coming to the festival, as Osterhout explained on KVOE’s Morning Show this week. Osterhout has already said this will be the first time the festival has charged for admission, in part for making the event sustainable but also for tracking and safety purposes. He also says he Granada will serve as the site for the opening night of concerts Sep. 6.
Another set of changes deals with Halfway to Everywhere’s location and layout. In years past, the concert has been focused in the 600 and 700 blocks of Commercial, whether at the Farmers Market Parking Lot, 10 block of West Seventh or at different businesses like Bourbon Cowboy and Radius Brewing. Osterhout says the main stage will be the 1000 block of Commercial, thanks to a developing owner with Dynamic Discs founder and Champions Landing owner Jeremy Rusco, with stages also in the 900 and 800 blocks of Commercial. The stages will also see more of a “shotgun” approach to the musicians as opposed to having each of the stages offering a specific music genre.
Speaking of Champions Landing, part of that property will turn into a campground for those attending.
Osterhout also says Halfway to Halfway is designed to serve as the unofficial launch of activities leading up to Halfway to Everywhere.
Saturday’s concert activities begin at 6 pm. General admission tickets are $25, while VIP tickets are $100 and also include a meal and reserved seating. Tickets are available through eventbrite.com.
