One person was taken to Newman Regional Health following a vehicle vs tree collision on the Emporia State campus Saturday evening.
Emergency crews were called to the intersection of 18th and Merchant just before 9:15 am for a reported injury accident. According to Emporia Police Officer Bradley Logsdon, the vehicle in question was traveling northbound on Merchant and left the roadway for currently unlisted reasons.
The vehicle then struck a tree on the ESU campus. Emporia Fire and EMS transported the driver of the vehicle, an unnamed male, to Newman with “apparently minor injuries.”
Logsdon says there did not appear to be any other occupants in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Along with Emporia Police and Fire, Emporia State Police and Safety, Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Kansas Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
ESU Police and Safety is handling the investigation.
