There will not be a trial in a nearly two-year-old attempted murder case in Lyon County.
On Monday, Judge Jeff Larson deemed Phillip Trump not competent to stand trial after a defense motion filed in September 2022. Following the guidance of a forensic evaluation report from Larned State Security Hospital, Larson also said Trump was “unlikely to become competent in the near future.” With that in mind, Larson ordered “involuntary commitment” to begin through the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services.
The findings from Larned State Security Hospital are not posted to the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal.
Trump was charged with attempted first-degree murder and battery on law enforcement after allegedly trying to kill a woman in August 2022.
