With several thousand people from across coming to enjoy the Class 5A State Basketball Tournament in downtown Emporia this week, the city of Emporia is opening the parking lot in the 600 block of Mechanic through the rest of the week.
Work on the parking lot began a month ago.
This is part of a two-phase project that also involves the Mechanic Street 700 block parking lot. That lot is nearly complete.
