Emporia State University has two community events of note Wednesday.
First is the opening reception for “The Big Picture: Connecting with the Walter M Andersen Collection” from 2-4 pm. Andersen was well-known as “the man with the pictures,” taking thousands of pictures documenting the history of both Emporia and Lyon County. The exhibit is in the first floor of Emporia State’s William Allen White Library.
On Wednesday evening, noted criminal justice reform advocate David Garlock will speak at Albert Taylor Hall at 7 pm. Garlock’s work in criminal justice includes work to reform the death penalty, geriatric parole programs and Pell Grant funds for incarcerated students. Garlock’s appearance is sponsored by Emporia State’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Criminology Club and Alpha Kappa Delta International Sociology Honor Society.
