Much-needed rainfall and no severe weather reports. Those were the general takeaways from Thursday’s weather.
Showers and occasional storms Thursday led to some impressive rain totals across the KVOE listening area:
*KVOE studios: 1.70 inches
*Emporia Municipal Airport: 1.17 inches
*3 miles east of Emporia Municipal Airport: 2.13 inches
*900 block Grand: 2.50 inches
*1100 block Constitution: 1.50 inches
*10th and Weaver: 1.25 inches
*Country Club Heights: 1.59 inches
*Deerbrook Addition: 1.60 inches
*Allen: 1.65 inches
*Between Hartford and Olpe: 1.30 inches
*Between Hamilton and Madison: 2.75 inches
*4 miles north of Madison: 1.25 inches and brief pea-sized hail
Area counties were under a marginal to slight severe weather risk through mid-evening, and Greenwood County was under a severe thunderstorm watch. There were no severe weather reports for any area counties.
Rain could resume Friday, but falling temperatures through the day are guaranteed as we go from the upper 40s Friday morning to upper 30s by mid-afternoon and down to 30 overnight. High temperatures climb back to the 60s by Sunday and into the 70s by Tuesday. Rain chances return Tuesday night.
KVOE listeners got over an inch of rain Feb. 3-4, the last recorded rainfall at the KVOE studios prior to Thursday.
