Two members of the Emporia High boys basketball team received All-Centennial League honors announced on Sunday.
River Peters was named a first-team selection while Sheldon Stewart was named a second-team selection. Peters averaged 18.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.2 steals in 20 games. Peters recorded seven games of scoring 20 or more including a career-high 34 points against Washburn Rural on February 23. Stewart averaged 12.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.8 steals in 20 games including a career-high 28 points against Washburn Rural. Stewart has verbally committed to Emporia State to continue his basketball career.
Emporia High finished its season with a 13-8 record falling in the sub-state semifinals to Andover. Junction City’s Jackson Austin was named the Player of the Year. Manhattan’s Asher Newcomer was the Newcomer of the Year. Junction City coach Nick Perez was named the Coach of the Year.
