Dollar amounts haven’t been announced, but the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve appears poised to benefit from notable federal funding to support “climate restoration and resilience projects.”
The preserve says it plans to evaluate the plant life surrounding the Spring Hill Ranch headquarters. The evaluation process will then lead to a planting plan and landscape maintenance guidelines. All of this is designed to reduce threats, both now and in the future, to the ranch headquarters while allowing the preserve to adapt to changes in the environment.
Funding comes from President Joe Biden’s Investing in America agenda through the Inflation Reduction Act. Officially, the preserve is set to get funding to “assess and prescribe treatment for climate-threatened cultural resources.” It’s also receiving money to “enhance operational capacity to further the National Parks Service’s bison conservation efforts.”
