Emporia State graduate thrower Travis Morrison earned All-American honors for the second consecutive year after finishing sixth in the shot put at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field championships on Saturday. Morrison’s first throw was his best at 58 feet-10.75 inches that put him in the finals. Morrison finished one spot higher than his seventh place finish a year ago in the event. Freshman thrower Mele Taula missed the finals in her first appearance at the national meet. Taula’s best throw was 46 feet-2 inches on her second attempt and was in place to make the finals until the final throw of the second flight knocked her out. The ESU track and field teams begin their outdoor season Friday at the Spire Distance Carinal hosted by the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kan. on Friday.
