The Flint Hills Technical College’s 22nd annual Gala Benefit and Auction is about six weeks out, and organizers are pleased with their first foray into a preliminary fundraising event.
The FHTC Foundation had a nearly weeklong Inspiring Spirits online auction last week, featuring liquor and bar-related items. Besides raising about $2,000, Alumni and Annual Fund Coordinator Amy Hall says the auction was a good way to foster existing connections and build new ones.
The gala is April 26 and will be presented by Modern Air. The theme this year is “Groovy ’60s Gala.” Proceeds benefit scholarships and the Wrangler Student Relief Fund.
Speaking of auctions, the Humane Society of the Flint Hills is into its first-ever Auction for the Animals on the Emporia Animal Shelter and Humane Society Facebook page. Residents can bid on nearly 30 items by leaving dollar amounts in the comments section under their item of choice. Bidding closes at 8 pm Saturday.
