The Emporia State volleyball team has added Jeff Grove to the coaching staff at the position of associate head coach. Grove replaces assistant coach Laurel Durst who departed the program to become the head coach at Western Iowa Tech. Grove has 30 years of coaching experience with 27 coming at the NCAA Division I level, including a stretch from 1997-2022 as the assistant and then associate head coach at Kansas State. Grove first served with long-time K-State head coach Suzie Fritz. He was later promoted to associate head coach when she took over the head job in 2001 and remained in the role until she departed the program in 2022 as the winningest coach in its history. Grove helped lead the Wildcats to 17 NCAA Tournaments including 13 times as the associate head coach and the program’s only Big 12 title in 2003. Grove joins a Lady Hornet volleyball program that, under the direction of first-year head coach Ken Murczek, finished 13-16 overall and 7-13 in the MIAA. The Lady Hornets advanced to the MIAA Tournament for the first time in 5 years and won nine more games than the previous season with a six-win improvement in conference play.
