Residents interested in reliving some of their past or curious about the future — or both — are encouraged to attend a special open house Monday.
Little Lyons Childcare, the new name for the one-time Maynard Early Childhood Center, has an open house from 5-7 pm. On KVOE’s Morning Show on Thursday, Ignite Emporia Director Michelle Margeson said residents can see the building “as is,” along with architectural renderings of the space once renovations are complete.
Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jeanine McKenna says the building is in good shape.
The open house is scheduled after the Chamber Foundation secured over $2.6 million in funding for several project components, including building renovations, salaries, operations and supplies. The initial plan is to hire a director and renovate three rooms on the north side of the building for childcare, with south-side renovations beginning this upcoming fall and more north-side work to follow. Little Lyons will serve about 160 children and will be open 24-7 once all renovations are finished.
