Sentencing was supposed to take place Friday in an Emporia child rape case, but it is being delayed by at least four weeks.
Prosecutors asked for time to craft a response to defense attorney Rick Meier’s motion for downward departure when it comes to the sentence length in this case. Judge Laura Miser agreed and reset sentencing to April 11.
Earlier this year, a Lyon County jury convicted Iverson of one count of child rape and 12 counts of sexual exploitation after actions against two children, including one under the age of two, between March 2022 and May 2023.
