Emporia Fire had to contend with a pair of gas leaks that developed within a 30-minute stretch late Friday afternoon.
The first call was to 502 Commercial shortly after 4 pm. Early indications are a furnace was pulled from an active gas line. Firefighters pinched the line and ventilated the building.
Firefighters then went to the 400 block of South Congress around 4:30 pm, finding a faulty appliance at that location.
No injuries were reported with either incident.
