Emporia State’s Special Collections and Archives Department has a traveling exhibit available for people to to see.
The National Library of Medicine is partnering with Special Collections and Archives to show “Life and Limb: The Toll of the American Civil War.” Here’s Rebekah Curry, Emporia State’s Public Services Supervisor for Library and Archives:
The opening reception is from 4-5:30 pm Wednesday at the William Allen White Library first floor. Military historian Nikki Dean will also have information about a separate but related exhibit at the World War II Memorial in Kansas City, Missouri.
Curry cautions some of the images will be intense and will focus on a war that largely took place east of Emporia, but she says there will be local interest due to Emporia’s longstanding medical presence and the city’s status as the founding city of Veterans Day.
