A third defendant in an Emporia aggravated robbery case has accepted a plea agreement.
Calvin Cruse, 19, has pleaded no contest to single counts of aggravated battery and conspiracy to commit aggravated battery. Cruse had been charged with aggravated robbery and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery before accepting the plea.
Sentencing will now be May 9.
Cruse joins Elssy Cervantes, who was sentenced in January to to two years probation and an underlying prison term of 16 months after she accepted a plea agreement in November. Cervantes was originally charged with aggravated robbery and conspiracy but saw the aggravated robbery charge dismissed.
Mikkel McCray, who — like Cervantes — was charged with aggravated robbery and conspiracy but saw his aggravated robbery charge dismissed after a plea agreement, will be sentenced March 29.
Antonio Brown, the fourth and final defendant in this case, has a status conference May 23. He’s charged with aggravated robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.
Charges against all four defendants follow an alleged robbery incident in mid-June 2023.
