The Emporia High girls swim and dive team opens its season on Thursday with a home meet.
Emporia High returns diver Allisyn Weiss, who placed fourth at state as a freshman. Weiss said she’s got an ultimate goal in front of her for her sophomore season.
Weiss’ older sister, Haylee, was undefeated during her sophomore and junior seasons en route to winning two state championships in 2017 and 2018.
On the swim side, senior Ryan Peak returns and said she hopes she can get to state in multiple events in her final year in the pool.
Other key returners for Emporia High are senior Taylor Cunningham and juniors Camryn Spafford and Adeiah Heffner. Emporia High coach Jamie Dawson said Thursday’s meet is going to see where all of her swimmers, including a big freshman class, will see where they are.
Diving will begin at 1 p.m. with swim events set to begin at 4 p.m. at the Emporia High pool.
