A new era of Emporia High softball opens Friday as the Lady Spartans host Ottawa at Peter Pan Park.
Tommy McClure inherits a team that won five games a season ago. McClure said the Lady Spartans are gaining reps with senior Addie Kirmer joining the team late last week.
Kirmer is one of five senior for the Lady Spartans. Joining Kirmer in the senior class are Danika Williams, Clara Williams, Maedeen McClure and Hayden Mann. Along with the five seniors, the Lady Spartans have a strong sophomore class that got significant playing time as freshmen. Kirmer said she feels like the team has grown from as season ago.
After Friday’s 4 p.m. doubleheader, the Lady Spartans will host Wichita South at 1 p.m. Saturday.
