After being swept on Friday by Ottawa, the Emporia High softball team bounced back with a pair of wins over Wichita South on Saturday afternoon at Peter Pan Park.
Emporia High won the first game 15-0 in four innings before taking the finale, 19-0, in three innings. The Lady Spartans scored in every inning of the opener, five in the first, three in the second, two in the third and five in the fourth. Sophomore Alivia Anno threw a shutout and had eight strikeouts. Seniors Addie Kirmer and Clara Williams each went 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs, while junior Ryane Howe also drove in three.
In game two, a 14-run first inning set the tone. Anno allowed two hits and had eight strikeouts. Kirmer went 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBIs. Howe, Williams and junior Bailey Schlesener each drove in two.
Anno said it was a team effort to get two wins.
Emporia High (2-2) hosts Hayden at 4 pm. Tuesday at Peter Pan Park.
