The #17/No. 4 Kansas men’s basketball team was dominated in the second half by #18/No. 5 Gonzaga on the way to an 89-68 defeat to end the season in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Saturday. The first half was a tightly contested contest with KU leading 44-43 in the second half. But, the Bulldogs wore down a depleted KU bench and used an early 15-0 run in the second half to put the game out of reach. KU had shot 50% from the field while hitting 7 of 11 threes in the first half but managed to shoot just 28% in the second while missing 9 of 11 tries from outside the arc. Meanwhile the ‘Zags’ torched KU defensively shooting 60% from the field in the game while hitting 8 of 15 three-balls to advance to the Sweet 16. KU was led by Hunter Dickinson’s 15 points. Dajuan Harris Jr had a double-double with 10 points and 11 assists with just three turnovers. The Jayhawks’ season ends at 23-11.
