The Northeastern State baseball team never trailed in a 10-3 victory to win a three-game series against Emporia State at the Trusler Sports Complex on Saturday. NSU scored two in the first, second, and fourth innings to take a 6-0 lead. ESU battled back with two in the fourth taking advantage of a RiverHawk error while also scoring on a fielder’s choice, but the ‘Hawks got three more hits in the fifth to continue to apply pressure. ESU scored just one more the rest of the way on an RBI single by T. J. Racherbaumer in the bottom of the eighth. ESU was outhit 14-7 in the game. Mason Sturdy and Kadyn Williams each had two hits for the Hornets. Ian Lanik (2-2) lasted 3.2 innings but surrendered seven hits and six runs to take the loss. ESU falls to 15-16, 6-10 in the MIAA. They begin a four-game road trip next week beginning with game two of their midweek series with Pittsburg State on Tuesday. The Gorillas won game one in Emporia earlier this month 12-10. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
