The Emporia High boys tennis team will be busy this week to kick off the season.
Emporia High will host two tournaments this week beginning with a tournament on Thursday at the Emporia High Tennis Courts. Tuesday’s tournament was postponed due to the cold weather and will be made up at a later date.
Senior Jacob Simons is the lone Spartan back with valuable experience. Senior Sheldon Stewart is one of several newcomers to the team.
Emporia High coach Saul Trujillo said Simons will most likely play singles this year, but that could change.
Simons said this week is important.
Emporia High will also have a tournament on Saturday.
