Some much-needed rainfall came to the KVOE listening area Sunday into early Monday.
The KVOE studios picked up 0.70 inches of rain, while the Emporia Municipal Airport got 0.59 inches. Other totals:
*1100 block Constitution: 0.75 inches
*10th and Weaver: 0.50 inches
*Country Club Heights: 0.66 inches
*Deerbrook Addition: 0.70 inches
*Allen: 0.75 inches
*Americus: 0.80 inches
*Lebo: 0.50 inches
*4 miles north of Madison: 0.45 inches
*Neosho Rapids: 0.70 inches
*Reading: 0.75 inches
Besides being wet, Sunday was also windy. Gusts at the Municipal Airport were as high as 43 mph Sunday and 44 mph early Monday.
Sunday’s marginal severe weather risk for area counties never materialized. Speaking of severe weather, the National Weather Service has its last two spotter training sessions for area counties this week:
*Monday: Chase County Community Building, 6:30 pm
*Wednesday: Emporia State Memorial Union Preston Family Room, 7 pm
And we could have a brief return to winter with light snowfall possible Monday night into Tuesday. Little to no accumulation is expected, but there could be isolated travel issues on bridges and other elevated surfaces Tuesday morning.
