The Pittsburg State baseball team never trailed in a 13-6 victory over Emporia State in Pittsburg, Kan. on Tuesday. The Gorillas jumped out to a 9-0 lead through four innings thanks to a five-run second inning. The Hornets got on the board in the fifth but the Gorillas were able to answer all but one Hornet run the rest of the way. ESU struck out ten times in the game. Trent Warstler (1-2) lasted two innings in the start while allowing seven runs and seven hits to take the loss. Logan Myers led the Hornets offensively by going 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI while Dom Oliverio went 2-for-5 with 2 RBIs. Andrew Rantz finished 2-for-4 with a double and a run. E-State falls to 15-17 on the year and moves to 6-11 in the MIAA. The Gorillas have taken the first two games of the midweek series which concludes in early April in Emporia. Emporia State returns to action Thursday to begin a 3-game series at Central Oklahoma. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m.
