The Bird scooters zipping around Emporia the past three years will be, pardon the pun, flying away soon.
Bird has announced it will be ending its local presence March 31.
Emporia city commissioners approved a partnership with Bird in 2021, and the scooters have been in regular use since coming to Emporia. However, Bird lost over $430 million when it went public in 2021 and declared bankruptcy late last year.
