Emporia State University has a new director for its theater department.
Aubrey Wilson graduated from Emporia State with a bachelor of art in theater with a minor in communication. She also has a master of fine arts in theater arts from the University of Iowa and has held several teaching and stage management positions at Iowa.
Wilson, who takes over the department for interim director Dennis Turney and prior director Pete Rydberg, has also served as a workshop leader at both the Kansas Thespians and Oregon Thespians state conferences. She’s co-founder and artistic director of Glitter Garbage Productions, which focuses on new works uplifting “the feminine voice.”
Last year, Wilson led Emporia State’s production of “Late, A Cowboy Song.”
Wilson will be on KVOE’s Newsmaker 3 segment at 8:40 am Friday to discuss her goals and objectives for ESU Theatre.
