The Emporia High girls swim and dive team finished sixth in the Topeka High Invitational at Capitol Federal Natatorium on Thursday.
For the third time this season, sophomore Allisyn Weiss won the diving portion of each meet she’s entered. Weiss recorded a personal-best score of 273.60. Junior Brooke Monroe also recorded a personal-best score, finishing seventh with a score of 154.65.
The top finish on the swim side was the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Bailey Wiltz, Adeiah Heffner, Camryn Spafford and Ryan Peak finishing fifth with a time of 4:53.89. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Monroe, Heffner, Wiltz, and Peak finished sixth with a time of 2:03.53. Peak finished eighth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 28.75, while also taking eighth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:07.35. Taylor Cunningham finished ninth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:51.72). Camryn Spafford finished ninth in the 200-yard individual medley (3:10.61). Monroe finished 10th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:23.93).
Emporia High recorded 187 points as a team finishing behind Washburn Rural, Seaman, Olathe South, Salina South, and Independence.
Emporia High will head to the Shawnee Mission North Invitational on Tuesday.
