New and increased scholarships was the focus of KVOE’s ESU Buzz on Thursday, and the university says it has several new scholarships now available to help students.
KVOE News has already highlighted the increases for the Jones Success Scholarships and those for the Department of Music, including funds for students in the Marching Hornets, Cheer, Dance and Color Guard. Also new are scholarships for science and math educators, choir members, the Chamber Singers, art and theater students and Esports varsity team members. There is also a brand-new scholarship for students in residence halls, while scholarship amounts for Honors College students have increased.
Many of the new scholarships can be tapped by students in all majors. Vice President for Marketing, Admissions and Communication Kelly Heine says this is important because it gives a lot of students a funding opportunity they may not get elsewhere.
Besides having new scholarships, ESU is also using a “stackable” approach, as Associate Dean of the Honors College and Interim Director of Undergraduate Admissions Mary Shivley explained.
Students already accepted for the fall 2024 semester are getting their first scholarship offers in the mail over the next few days, and Heine says the scholarships are independent of any financial aid coming through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid process.
